In Loving Memory Of  "Lilly"

Thank you "Lilly" for being a reminder of what we breed for.

You were exceptional!  I wish you could have grown to be a part of my mare power.... you will be missed.

The business of breeding horses can be so full of precious gifts but also heartbreaking times.  Especially when you are a small elite breeder as we chose to be.  We don't have 25 average broodmares running out in a field having babies every year. We choose to have the best of the best and with each mare there is a special personal attachment and commitment that goes along with it. This is how you get the really  great ones.  Well, when you breed for the great ones you always take a chance of loosing the great ones.  "Lilly" is the product of years of hard work and emotional attachment to the bloodline and our commitment.  Losing a filly like her is really heartbreaking. Especially from my personal favorite mare "Henrietta".  I had purchased Henrietta's dam with her in the belly.  She has been with me ever since and the gift of this filly was the joy of the year!  I only hope that people out there can realize that there are horses that you "think" are great and then there are horses that you "know" are great!  We breed for the horses that we "know" are great.  I will be very sad and heartbroken for a while after loosing this "great" filly.  But, I will continue to strive for that perfect horse again for myself and the industry.  Breeding is definitely not for the weak at heart,  it is a hard road.  I sure hope my heart will hold out for another like her!
